H-2B planning for a seasonal hotel or resort

A resort’s staffing plan should connect occupancy, departments, job duties, and dates. H-2B may be one part of that plan when the employer has a qualifying temporary need.

Show the operating season

Bring occupancy by month, opening and closing dates, event calendars, and department headcount from prior seasons. Explain how the extra positions relate to the temporary peak. Avoid assuming that a busy summer alone establishes every requested role.

Define roles and properties accurately

Separate housekeeping, kitchen, service, maintenance, and other duties. List every property where workers would be assigned. Moving staff between departments or locations can affect the job terms and classification; review proposed flexibility before filing.

Plan the arrival experience

Build an onboarding plan with supervisors, training, transport arrangements, and any housing terms clearly documented. Review wages, hours, and deductions before offers are finalized. Maintain staffing alternatives because agency processing and individual visa decisions can change arrival plans.
